1. On-board processing with AI for more autonomous and capable satellite systems
Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknikSammanfattning : While the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has faced a sharp up-rise in popularity in ground-based industries, such as for autonomous navigation in the automotive industry and predictive maintenance in manufacturing processes, it is yet only rarely used in space industry. Hence, this thesis aims to investigate the possibilities of using AI for processing on-board Earth-orbiting satellites while in orbit. LÄS MER
2. Spatial Variability in the Ionosphere and GNSS Signal Delays in the L-band: A Direct Comparison of In-Situ Satellite- and Swepos-Data
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi; Uppsala universitet/Institutet för rymdfysik, UppsalaavdelningenSammanfattning : It has been shown that ionospheric irregularities can disturb our GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) communication. This disturbance is caused by scintillation of the radio signals when they pass through the ionosphere, leading to lock-on difficulties or in worst case, a loss of position for the GNSS-receiver. 3. Vegetation phenology derived using the plant phenology index and the normalized difference vegetation index for the Balkan peninsula, south-eastern Europe
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : This study analyses the performance of the satellite derived Plant Phenology Index (PPI) against the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) for estimating start of season (SOS) and end of season (EOS) of vegetation growth in part of the Balkan Peninsula, Southeastern Europe (2000 – 2016). Results revealed that PPI and NDVI differ considerably; SOS and EOS may diverge by more than one month between the two indices. LÄS MER
4. A Historic Record of Sea Ice Extents from Scatterometer Data
Master-uppsats, KTH/GeoinformatikSammanfattning : Sea ice is a vital component of the cryosphere and does not only influence the polar regions but has a more global influence. Indeed, sea ice plays a major role in the regulation of the global climate system as the sea ice cover reflects the sun radiation back to the atmosphere keeping the polar regions cool. LÄS MER
5. Mission Analysis of the Nanosatellite Sonate
Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknikSammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is the development of a software application facilitating a quick and extensive mission analysis including all subsystems of the satellite. Furthermore mission analysis for the Sonate mission is done, utilizing the developed program. LÄS MER
