  1. 1. Effects of “classical” vs. “dynamic” silviculture of sessile oak-dominated stands in terms of height, diameter increments and natural mortality

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre

    Författare :Alexandru-Mihai Goia; [2020]
    Nyckelord :sessile oak; cleaning-respacing; thinning; stand silviculture; crop tree silviculture; mortality; growth; Romania;

    Sammanfattning : Traditional oak silviculture in Romania is associated with high labor costs and long rotation cycles which are imposed by current norms and regulations. A small-scale R&D project, consisting of a block with four plots of 200 m2, was established in 2001 in a 15-year old sessile oak-dominated stand. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Natural oak regeneration in response to selective cutting : restoration of temperate deciduous woodlands on abandoned agricultural land in Scandinavia

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre

    Författare :Samuel Keith; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Light demanding species; selective cutting; restoration; ecosystem services; broadleaf dominated;

    Sammanfattning : The natural regeneration of sessile oak (Quercus petraea (Matt.) L.) and pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.) is largely uncertain across central Europe and Scandinavia. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development of single oak trees in a mixed coniferous stand

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre

    Författare :Joakim Frick; [2015]
    Nyckelord :oak; oak management; Quercus petraea; Quercus robur; Quercus robur; growth; competition; mixed species; oak thinning; crown size; Norway spruce;

    Sammanfattning : Pedunculate oak (Quercus robur) and sessile oak (Quercus petraea) are important tree species in the southern half of Sweden. Oak trees house a large biological fauna and can have high value timber. Managing oaks in pure stands is common but a large portion of oak is found in admixed in coniferous stands. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Oak in mixtures and monocultures : results from the Snogeholm study area in southern Sweden

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre

    Författare :Dmitry Loginov; [2012]
    Nyckelord :oak; potential crop oak; spruce; quality; mixture;

    Sammanfattning : Oak is a tree specie with fine, high valued wood and thereby timber of oak has higheconomical value. One drawback of growing oak is the expensive establishment cost dueto high seedlings price. Establishing and growing oak in mixed stands could be a solutionfor this problem. LÄS MER
