  1. 1. Petrography of impactites from the Dellen impact structure, Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Robert Mroczek; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Dellen; Impact; structure; magnetite; apatite; shock waves; shock-metamorphic; features; Impactite; petrography; scanning electron microscope; SEM; geology; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Identification and characterization of shock-metamorphic features in hypervelocity impact craters is important for our understanding of how shock waves interact with geologic materials and how impact craters form, which in turn is essential to our understanding of what role impact cratering played in the development of our solar system. Of particular interest are accessory minerals like apatite, which contains various volatiles that can affect the atmosphere of a body, or magnetite whose magnetic properties constitute a remote sensing indicator which allows us to study and understand the internal structures of distant bodies. 2. 2. Shock metamorphic features in zircon grains from the Mien impact structure : clues to conditions during impact

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Josefin Martell; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Zircon; shock metamorphism; Mien; FRGN zircon; granular texture; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Jämfört med andra himlakroppar i vårt solsystem så finns det få välbevarade nedslagsstrukturer på jorden. Vi vet att jorden har påverkats av nedslag från rymden i lika stor utsträckning som övriga planeter och att dessa nedslag har influerat jordens geologiska och biologiska utveckling. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A study of shock-metamorphic features in zircon from the Siljan impact structure, Sweden

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Josefin Martell; [2016]
    Nyckelord :Zircon; impacts; shock metamorphism; shock metamorphic features; planar deformation features; Siljan impact structure; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Shock-metamorphic features such as planar deformation features (PDFs) and in some cases planar fractures (PFs) are widely used as impact-indicators when to confirm a suspected impact structure. These features only develop when exposed to a sudden and immense pressure and temperature increase in association with meteorite impacts. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Microscopic shock-metamorphic features in crystalline bedrock : a comparison between shocked and unshocked granite from the Siljan impact structure

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Robert Mroczek; [2014]
    Nyckelord :impact structure; Siljan; planar deformation features; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : During the Devonian, 377 Ma ago, the Earth was impacted by a large celestial body, striking ground in the Siljan area in Dalarna, Sweden. The impact created what is today the largest confirmed impact structure in western Europe. Since its formation, the structure has however been heavily eroded, leaving no trace of the original crater. 5. 5. Traces of impact in crystalline rock : a summary of processes and products of shock metamorphism in crystalline rock with focus on planar deformation features in feldspars

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Fredrika Svahn; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Impacts; shock metamorphism; crater formation; shock metamorphic features; planar deformation features; alkali-feldspars; Siljan impact structure; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Chockmetamorfa strukturer i alkalifältspater har genom studier i polarisationsmikroskop identi-fierats i graniter från Siljan- nedslagskrater. De mikroskopiska strukturer som observerats omfattas av; deformation bands, ladder textures, planar fractures, ”long deformation features", samt planar deformation features (PDFs). LÄS MER
