1. Petrography of impactites from the Dellen impact structure, Sweden
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionenSammanfattning : Identification and characterization of shock-metamorphic features in hypervelocity impact craters is important for our understanding of how shock waves interact with geologic materials and how impact craters form, which in turn is essential to our understanding of what role impact cratering played in the development of our solar system. Of particular interest are accessory minerals like apatite, which contains various volatiles that can affect the atmosphere of a body, or magnetite whose magnetic properties constitute a remote sensing indicator which allows us to study and understand the internal structures of distant bodies. 2. Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) Analysis and Predicted Physical Properties of Shocked Quartz from the Chicxulub Impact Crater, Mexico
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : As one of the most common minerals in crustal rocks, quartz has been widely used as an indicator for shock metamorphism. Shocked quartz is found in the Chicxulub impact crater, an impact crater that has been linked to the Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction ~66 million years ago. LÄS MER
3. Impactites from the Hiawatha crater, North-West Greenland
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaperSammanfattning : The recent discovery of the 31-km-wide Hiawatha impact crater has raised unanswered questions about its age, impactor and highly unusual organic carbon component. Previous research suggests a fractionated iron meteorite impactor, a probable maximum 3–2.4 Ma impact age and a possible Younger Dryas impact age. LÄS MER
4. Spår av himlakroppskollisioner : bergarter i nedslagskratrar med fokus på Mien, Småland
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionenSammanfattning : This study aims to describe the different types of impactites that are present on Earth and to characterize previously undescribed samples of impactites from Mien, an impact structure located in southern Sweden. Impactites are rocks that are generated from one or several meteoric impacts and they are divided into three groups; shocked rocks, impact breccias and impact melts. LÄS MER
