  1. 1. Reconstruction of Fire Spread with a Markov Random Field Mixture Model

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistik

    Författare :Marcus Gehrmann; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Forest fire; fire scars; spatial statistics; Markov random field; EM-algorithm; pseudo-likelihood; Mathematics and Statistics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis revolves around reconstructing fire sizes for historical fires in Jämtgaveln, Sweden based on data of fire scars in trees. We propose a Hidden Markov Model (HMM), where the domain is divided into quadratic grid cells of 250 $\times$ 250 m and with these grid cells we associate a binary Markov random field taking values 0 or 1 corresponding to no fire and fire respectively. 2. 2. To clear-cut or not to clear-cut; Cost-benefit analyses of post-fire management approaches in the Ljusdal fire-complex

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Centrum för miljö- och klimatvetenskap (CEC)

    Författare :Bella Blomqvist; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Clear-cut forestry; Continous cover forestry; Nature reserve; Cost-benefit analysis; Wildfires; Sweden; Ljusdal; Post-fire management; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Wildfires causes natural disturbances to ecosystems which can have potentially damaging results for ecosystem services and economic income from timber production. The post-fire management approach can be essential for the environmental work regarding the recovery of ecosystems and maintaining ecosystem services. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Risk och sårbarhet i kommunal fysisk planering : En undersökning av hur risk och sårbarhet hanteras och förstås av kommunala fysiska planerare

    Master-uppsats, Blekinge Tekniska Högskola/Institutionen för fysisk planering

    Författare :Matilda Stjärnfäldt; [2022]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Kriser såsom översvämningar, skogsbränder, flyktingvåg, terrordåd och pandemi har inträffat i Sverige under 2000-talet. Kriserna innebär en risk mot vårt samhälle och gör det sårbart. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Post-Wildfire Debris Flows: Mapping and Analysis of Risk Factors in Western North America

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Annejet Tuinstra; [2021]
    Nyckelord :wildfires; debris flows; water repellent soil; North America; skogsbränder; jordskred; vattenavvisande jordlager; Nordamerika;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change is leading to in an increase in frequency and severity of wildfires, which in turn can result in the formation of runoff-initiated post-wildfire debris flows. This type of debris flows is, like most debris flows, triggered by heavy precipitation events. LÄS MER

    Författare :Josefine Ögren; [2021]
    Nyckelord :public urban spaces; urban spaces; square; robust city; covid-19; climate change; landscape architecture; design; urban design;

    Sammanfattning : The year 2020 will be remembered as a year that both shook and changed our society completely when the COVID-19 pandemic spread and affected people all around the world. Never before in modern times have green urban public spaces been as important for both the citizens and for the environment. LÄS MER
