  1. 1. Hunting the hunters - Evaluating a new method of Geographic Profiling

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

    Författare :Max Pröckl; [2024]
    Nyckelord :rgeoprofile; crimestat; journey-to-crime; geographic profiling; qgis; geographical profiling; Örebromannen; Kim Rossmo; David Canter; Ned Levine.; Law and Political Science;

    Sammanfattning : Geographic Profiling (GP) may be used when searching for an unknown offender by applying mathematical algorithms to geographical information. This thesis aimed to contribute to improvement of the efficiacy of GP’s produced by law enforcement by evaluating a the new Spaulding/Morris Centrographic (SMC)-method of GP that claims to counteract two of the main difficulties when constructing a GP in a real world investigation: 1. 2. 2. Simuleringsdriven inferens av stokastiska dynamiska system

    Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för matematiska vetenskaper

    Författare :Alfred Andersson; Vilgot Jansson; Noah Trädgårdh; Jacob Welander; Victor Wellsmo; [2023-11-28]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Stokastiska modeller, som ger tillförlitlig och användbar information om ett systems beteende, består ofta av stokastiska differentialekvationer (SDE) vars likelihoodfunktion inte är analytiskt tillgänglig. Mer traditionella Markov Chain Monte Carlo-metoder (MCMC) samt relativt nyligen utvecklade likelihood-fria Approximate Bayesian Computation-metoder (ABC) utgör populära angrepssätt för att utföra inferens på dessa typer av problem. 3. 3. What limits the luminosity of red supergiants?

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Eric Svensson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Stellar evolution; Red supergiants; Red giants; Luminosity; Binary stars; Binary star systems; Binary star interactions; Binary stellar evolution; Humphreys-Davidson limit; Upper luminosity limit; BSE; Population synthesis; Simulations; M31; LMC; SMC; Metallicity; Mass transfer; Merging; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The observed upper limit of the luminosity of red supergiants, often called the Humphreys-Davidson limit, has recently been shown to be independent of metallicity and to not be explainable by single star evolution – findings that both contradict established ideas of the origins of the limit. It is now known that the vast majority of stars with sufficient mass to possibly evolve into red supergiants above the limit interact with companion stars at some point during their lives. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Microbial strains from compost originated from circulated side streams : impact on root growth and root hairs

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)

    Författare :Benjamin Pettersson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Spent Mushroom Compost; Circulated side streams; Botrytis cinerea; Circular Bioeconomy; Soil health;

    Sammanfattning : Spent mushroom compost, apple waste and other organic waste materials are of great potential to improve soil health, water holding capacity and to supress plant pathogens. Today compost is used in apple orchards as an additional fertilizer or soil amendment. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Characterization of Compost from Reusable Industrial Streams: : physical, Nutrient, and Microbial Properties

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)

    Författare :Ellen Ek Moreau; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Spent mushroom compost; apple orchard waste; soil amendment; compost optimization; circular agriculture;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing global population, combined with soil degradation, poses challenges to food security, and raises concerns about the excessive and long-term use of conventional fertilizers. Evaluating sustainable alternative by-products for their soil-improving properties could offer a potential solution, particularly for Swedish fruit producers who can tap into local waste streams as a circular source of plant nutrients.
