  1. 1. Biogeochemistry and Peat Properties of Restored Peatlands

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :Pelle Belaieff Kronborg; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Drainage; Bulk density; Nitrogen; Carbon; Stable isotopes;

    Sammanfattning : Globally, peatlands comprise the most important soil organic carbon pool storing approximately one third of all terrestrial soil carbon. Drainage can turn peatlands to net sources of carbon dioxide. Peatlands have historically been drained to increase the productivity of agriculture and forestry. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Beaver wetland and lake effects on Francisella tularensis in Swedish landscapes and hares

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Lovisa Pihlgren Hökby; [2022]
    Nyckelord :tularemia; francisella tularensis hola; beavers; hares; wetland restauration; epizoology; vector borne diseases;

    Sammanfattning : The zoonotic disease tularemia is caused by the bacterium Francisella tularensis that infects both humans and wildlife in Sweden. Associations between outbreaks of tularemia and lakes and rivers have earlier been observed, and semi-aquatic rodents and mosquitoes are believed to be key species groups in the epidemiological cycle of the disease. 3. 3. Geochemistry of stream plants and its statistical relations to soil- and bedrock geology, slope directions and till geochemistry : a GIS-analysis of small catchments in northern Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Harry Eriksson; [2017]
    Nyckelord :Biogeochemistry; GIS; Physical Geography and Ecosystem analysis; Geographical Information Systems; Geochemistry; Catchments; Drainage areas; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Subaquatic mosses and stream plants have been recognized as suitable sample media for detection of geochemical variations in their surrounding environments. These plants were originally used in search for mineral deposits but later on also for detection of environmental pollution. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Organic matter properties and their relation to phosphorus and nitrogen concentrations in Swedish agricultural streams

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Soil and Environment

    Författare :Betty Ehnvall; [2017]
    Nyckelord :dissolved organic matter; excitation-emission fluorescence spectroscopy; absorbance spectroscopy; eutrophication; biogeochemistry; absorbance index; fluorescence index;

    Sammanfattning : Many agricultural streams in Sweden exhibit high concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorus, suspended sediments and dissolved organic matter (DOM). Together these substances cause eutrophication in streams, rivers and eventually the Baltic Sea. The interactions between different fractions of DOM and nutrients are not very well understood. 5. 5. Production and biodegradability of dissolved organic carbon from dIfferent litter sources

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Carlos Arellano; [2015]
    Nyckelord :biogeochemical cycles; physical geography and ecosystem analysis; dissolved organic carbon; carbon cycle; soil biogeochemistry; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The movement of carbon on Earth is based on exchange between pools that represent carbon in different physical forms, differing in chemical composition, structure and function. Dissolved organic carbon plays an important role in ecosystems because of its mobility, which can be relatively high in saturated soils, and because it is the most available fraction of organic matter for microorganisms in soil, being particularly active in microbial degradation processes through soil profile.
