  1. 1. How do rainfall patterns change microbial induced carbon dynamics in soil?

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologi; Lunds universitet/Bioteknik

    Författare :Maria João Silva; [2023]
    Nyckelord :drying and rewetting; bacterial growth; fungal growth; annual crops; perennial crops; soil depth; climate change; biotechnology; Biology and Life Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change is changing the precipitation patterns around the globe, leading to more extreme weather events like severe drought and heavy rainfalls. These events are intrinsically related to soil moisture fluctuations, which strongly modulates carbon fluxes in terrestrial ecosystems. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modelling the Impact of Climate and Socio-Economic Changes on Nutrient Dynamics in the Catchment of Lake Vomb

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Yanhe Zhou; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Climate change; hydrological modelling; nutrient; RCP; socioeconomic development; SSP; SWAT; water quality modelling;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change and socio-economic development are greatly affecting the quality of freshwater, especially the excessive accumulation of nutrients (N and P), which eventually leads to the occurrence of eutrophication. Lake Vomb is one of the main sources of drinking water in southern Sweden and the nutrient load from the catchment makes it a eutrophic lake with recurring algal blooms. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The potential nitrous oxide emissions in a permanent grassland chronosequence

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology

    Författare :Sandra Lillsjö Kronblad; [2023]
    Nyckelord :nitrous oxide emission; permanent grasslands; denitrification; nitrous; reen house gas; agriculture;

    Sammanfattning : As a part of a larger project (Belowground biodiversity of grasslands – conservation needs and potential to promote sustainable agriculture), this study aims to investigate potential nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions and microbial gene abundances needed for the production (nirS and nirK) and reduction (nosZI and nosZII) of nitrous oxide in soil of permanent grasslands of various age. Thegrasslands have at different times been converted to permanent grasslands and are of interest because of the possibility to shed more light about the passage of time’s affects on the soil microbialcommunities and their activity. 4. 4. Analysis of Rainfall-runoff processes at different scales in two mountainous, Arctic catchments in northern Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :June Johansson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Arctic hydrology; Catchment response parameters; Water height recession analysis; Permafrost presence; Glacier presence;

    Sammanfattning : The hydrological regime in Arctic catchments is being altered as an effect of climate change. To be able to project future changes in Arctic hydrology and hydrogeology, the mechanisms and drivers affecting runoff generation needs to be understood. LÄS MER

  5. 5. A coupling method using CFD, radiative models and a surface model to simulate the micro-climate

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Teknisk mekanik

    Författare :Joseph Vernier; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Computational Fluid Dynamics; Fluid Mechanics; Numerics; Micro-climate modeling; Radiation; Crop modeling; Photovoltaic panels;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing demand for energy, depletion of fossil fuels, rising global warming, and greenhouse gas emissions have stimulated the need for widespread development and adoption of renewable energy sources (RES) worldwide. Among these sources, solar energy has emerged as a major contender to meet the growing demand. LÄS MER
