  1. 21. Intratumoral heterogeneity in early breast cancer

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :MARIA STOGIANNITSI; [2020]
    Nyckelord :breast cancer; RNAscope technique; heterogeneity of BC; RNA in situ hybridization;

    Sammanfattning : The use of adjuvant The use of adjuvant polychemotherapy (ACT) confers unequivocal benefits in terms of relapse free (RFS) and overall survival (OS) after resection of early breast cancer (BC). Although the magnitude of benefit is the same regardless of clinicopathological factors such as ER expression or nodal stage, it is clear that a substantial proportion of patients will eventually relapse and succumb to the disease. 2. 22. Spatial Heterogeneity of Weather impacts on Cycling Flows within Gothenburg, Sweden - A Geographic Framework for Local Pattern Analysis

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Filip Olsson; [2019-10-25]
    Nyckelord :spatial heterogeneity; cycling; weather; local climate zones; explorative GIS;

    Sammanfattning : Background: In the past decade, the phenomenon of spatial heterogeneity has started to gain traction in studies of cycling and weather. Cycling is usually the mode of transportation that is most affected by inclement weather and the scientific consensus about how weather impacts cycling behaviour on a general scale is for the most part well-established. 3. 23. Spatial and temporal variability in grassland structure associated with different densities of the white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) in a South African savanna

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Emilia Malmström; [2019]
    Nyckelord :white rhinoceros; african savanna; keystone species; herbivory; cascading effects; poaching;

    Sammanfattning : The direct and indirect relationships between species in different trophic levels are referred to as trophic dynamics and are important in maintaining the function of ecosystems. Megaherbivores may have effects both directly and indirectly on other species since their impact may be disproportionately large relative to their population size. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Adaptive Evolution of Resource Use, Phenotypic Diversity, and Productivity of Phytoplankton Communities

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Författare :Nils Hellekant; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Adaptive Dynamics; phenotype; phytoplankton; plankton; BEF; Biodiversity; diversity; Spatial modeling; Ecosystem function; Evolution; Diversity;

    Sammanfattning : There is growing concern that the worldwide loss in biodiversity will harm the stability of the ecosystems, and thereby, the carrying capacity and critical ecosystem services the biosphere provides. Phytoplankton (microalgae) in lakes and oceans are arguably the most important primary producers. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Investigating Gas Turbulence in Galactic Discs

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Timmy Ejdetjärn; [2019]
    Nyckelord :galaxies; gas; turbulence; interstellar medium; star formation; feedback; gravitational instability; local; high redshift; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The interstellar medium of both local and distant disc galaxies is observed to be supersonically turbulent and the turbulent motion of the gas is thought to be important for galaxy formation and evolution, particularly as a key ingredient for star formation. Consequently, this generates a striking relation between the star formation rate (SFR) and gas velocity dispersion ($\sigma_{\rm g}$; a measurement on the level of turbulence). LÄS MER
