  1. 6. Cross-Lingual and Genre-Supervised Parsing and Tagging for Low-Resource Spoken Data

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för lingvistik och filologi

    Författare :Iliana Fosteri; [2023]
    Nyckelord :dependency parsing; part-of-speech tagging; low-resource languages; transcribed speech; large language models; cross-lingual learning; transfer learning; multi-task learning; Universal Dependencies;

    Sammanfattning : Dealing with low-resource languages is a challenging task, because of the absence of sufficient data to train machine-learning models to make predictions on these languages. One way to deal with this problem is to use data from higher-resource languages, which enables the transfer of learning from these languages to the low-resource target ones. LÄS MER

  2. 7. The role of word accents in semantic processing in South Swedish

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Masterprogram: Språk och språkvetenskap; Lunds universitet/Fonetik

    Författare :Jinhee Kwon; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Word accents; spoken word recognition; prediction; ERP; N400; Languages and Literatures;

    Sammanfattning : Prosodic cues can aid speech processing by adding semantic information in lexical tones or functional information in intonational tones. Swedish word accents are considered to have stronger grammatical functions than semantic roles, although they are shaped by both lexical and intonational information structure. LÄS MER

  3. 8. DIALOGUE STRATEGIES FOR VOCABULARY LEARNING User Initiative in Dialogue Systems for Second Language Learning

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för filosofi, lingvistik och vetenskapsteori

    Författare :Andrea Carrión del Fresno; [2022-10-06]
    Nyckelord :spoken dialogue systems; second language learning; repair strategies; code-switching; production problem;

    Sammanfattning : When building efficient dialogue systems, a major challenge is recovering from miscommunication. Analyzing human-human interaction leads to discovering repair strategies that contribute towards conversational systems able to communicate in a natural and effective way. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Lexical competition and predictive certainty in speech recognition: Modulations of pre-activation negativity amplitude by continuations, entropy and inhibition

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Masterprogram: Språk och språkvetenskap; Lunds universitet/Fonetik

    Författare :Anna Hjortdal; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Speech perception; spoken word recognition; lexical competition; ERPs; PrAN.; Languages and Literatures;

    Sammanfattning : A growing body of evidence suggests that speech recognition is facilitated by rapid activation of possible lexical candidates and subsequent competition and selection. An event-related potential (ERP) component 136-204 ms after word onset, the pre-activation negativity (PrAN), correlates with lexical competition. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Att sjunga sig till språk : Sång i språkundervisning för nyanlända högstadieelever

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på grundnivå, Högskolan Dalarna/Institutionen för lärarutbildning

    Författare :Ingrid Blanck; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Secondary school; song; singing; second language; language development;

    Sammanfattning : This paper is a study of a class of newly immigrated students, age 13–15, that currently is learning sufficient Swedish to be able to attend the regular education in secondary school, and how they perceive different methods of learning language through music – specifically singing. By teaching four different songs in four different ways, I have tried to establish if it is possible to distinguish a superiour method for teaching a second language by singing. LÄS MER
