  1. 1. Detection of potential arable land with remote sensing and GIS : a case study for Kjósarhreppur

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Brynja Gudmundsdottir; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography and Ecosystem analysis; GIS; remote sensing; potential arable land; general plan; Kjósarhreppur; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Arable land is a valuable natural resource. In Iceland the total size of potential arable land has not been determined but preliminary estimates vary from 420 ha to 15000 ha. These have been based on different definitions of potential arable land and assumptions for minimum continuous land area. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Soil organic carbon pools of the Torneträsk catchment area : The importance of soil depth and stone and boulder content for carbon inventories in formerly glaciated subarctic soils

    Kandidat-uppsats, Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Bror Holmgren; [2013]
    Nyckelord :Torneträsk catchment area; soil organic carbon; stoniness; sub-arctic; ground-penetrating radar;

    Sammanfattning : High latitude soils are estimated to store a considerable part of the global pool of soil organic carbon (SOC). Studies of global and regional SOC pools have estimated total inventories in northern Sweden’s subarctic region to fall within 10-50 kg m-2. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Topography, soil carbon-nitrogen ratio and vegetation in boreal coniferous forests at the landscape level

    L3-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Soils

    Författare :Guillermo Chaminade; [2005]
    Nyckelord :C N ratio; TWI; soil properties; vegetation; landscape;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis was developed with the main objective of assessing the mutual influence of three of the main factors taking part in the ecological processes of the boreal forest: topography and the hydrological fluxes related to it, C/N ratio in the forest soil, and vegetation composition. The interaction between these factors has not been the main focus in any study of this kind before, although in numerous reports these variables and their role in the forests have been assessed.
