1. Dendrokronologi – en nyckelmetod för att förstå klimat- och miljöförändringar i Jämtland under holocen
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionenSammanfattning : By using dendrochronology, it is possible to create climate archives with high resolution from subfossil remains of trees. 178 samples of pine (Pinus sylvestris) have been collected from the peat-extraction site OpeBrynjeflon in Jämtland, Sweden, in order to be used in climate reconstructions. 2.
3. Makrofossilanalys som ekologiskt verktyg : En metodutvärdering
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildningSammanfattning : Approximately 50 percent of all endangered species in Scandinavia are associated with old agricultural landscapes. During the agricultural industrialization of the past century the traditional practices and methods that created these environments have been phased out. LÄS MER
4. The Importance of Curation: a Case-Study of the Subfossil Lemur Collection in the Museum of Evolution, Uppsala University
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/PaleobiologiSammanfattning : In times when many natural history museums experience financial cuts, it is important to show why museums matter, what they can offer, and what they mean for both the public and the scientific society. The collections are the heart of the museum and they need to be well-managed in order to attract visitors (both researchers and public). LÄS MER
5. Is it possible to reconstruct local pre-sence of pine on bogs during the Ho-locene based on pollen data? : a study based on surface and stratigraphical samples from three bogs in southern Sweden
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionenSammanfattning : Horizons rich in subfossil stumps and roots of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) are frequently found in stratigraphies of northern European peatlands, providing clear evidence of Holocene periods with favourable conditions for bog-pine growth. The pines could only grow when bog-surface wetness was sufficiently low, and the presence of their remains is therefore a good indicator of past climatic conditions, mainly precipitation. LÄS MER
