  1. 1. Detecting bark beetle damage with Sentinel-2 multi-temporal data in Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Shuo Yang; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography and Ecosystem Analysis; Remote Sensing; Bark Beetle; Insect Detection; Sentinel-2; Forest Health; Maximum Likelihood; Random Forest; Spectral Signature; Vegetation Indices; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The European spruce bark beetle is considered as one of the most destructive forest insects to Norway spruce trees in Europe. Climate change may increase the frequency and intensity of bark beetle outbreaks. It is therefore of vital importance to detect the bark beetle outbreaks and take it under control to prevent further damages. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Den alpina trädgränsen i ett föränderligt klimat - Studie över trädgränsen i de svenska fjällen

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildning

    Författare :Julia Johansson; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Trädgräns; klimatförändringar; kalfjäll; Sverige; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : As temperatures on Earth are rising, the Polar regions experience most rapid climatic changes. In the Swedish Scandes, the alpine tree line is considered as one of the most sensitive indicators of climate change. Therefore, the aim of this study is to study the most important abiotic factors driving position change of the alpine tree line. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Bladyta och virkesproduktion i fullskiktad granskog skött med blädningsbruk

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :Elin Edman; [2019]
    Nyckelord :bladyteindex; gran; blädningsbruk; ljusinsläpp; virkesproduktion; hyggesfritt skogsbruk; Leaf Area Index; Norway spruce; single-tree selection system; light penetration; volume growth; continous cover forestry;

    Sammanfattning : I dagens samhälle har klimatförändringarna tagit en allt större plats i den politiska debatten, vilket har resulterat i att det numera är många olika värden som är viktiga att ta hänsyn till i skogsbruket förutom virkesproduktion. Samhället vill ha en större variation inom skogsskötseln och en ökad användning av hyggesfria skötselmetoder. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Fire effects in a landscape of fear : food availability and perceived predation risk as potential determinants of patch utilization by herbivore prey

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :David Kymmell; [2019]
    Nyckelord :landscape of fear; forest fire effects; herbivore prey; camera trapping;

    Sammanfattning : Context: A major effect of climatic change is the global increase in forest fires, which potentially creates an increase in food availability for herbivorous species. Also vegetation density and the numbers of tree logs increase in burned sites, and this is thought to influence the perceived risk of herbivore prey species, which affects their anti‐predator behaviour and thereby the patch utilization. 5. 5. Reindeer induced changes in vegetation composition and plant traits on a tundra-forest border

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Femke Pijcke; [2019]
    Nyckelord :physical geography; ecosystem analysis; plant functional traits; nutrient allocation; grazing; reindeer; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) are the most common large herbivores in the arctic. With a habitat spreading over the entire circumpolar region, they can have a substantial effect on plant species composition and ecosystem processes and functions. LÄS MER
