  1. 1. POSSIBLE TIMING OF THE TRANSITION FROM PRE-INDUSTRIAL TO INDUSTRIAL CLIMATE IN THE CENTRAL TO NORTHERN OF SWEDEN, BASED ON PROXY DATA FROM TREE-RINGS

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Mika Falkensjö Oppenheim; [2022-09-28]
    Nyckelord :Tree-ring; maximum latewood density MXD ; Scandinavia; pre-industrial; industrial climate;

    Sammanfattning : Earth’s climate has varied through time, with orbital forcing as the most dominant force on the climate system the last million years, causing glacial-interglacial cycles. The last glacial period ended about 11.6 thousand years (kyr), ago and the last interglacial maximum around 6.5 kyr ago. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Elemental variability in tree-rings as indicator for climate change : a case study on beech and oak trees at the Laacher See, Germany

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :Ann-Kathrin Wild; [2022]
    Nyckelord :trace elements; tree-rings; dendrochemistry; dendroclimatology; ITRAX; Laacher See; mofettes; tree-bark; Quercus sp.; Fagus sp.;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to contribute to the comprehension of the connection of element uptake in trees at the Laacher See in Germany and climatic parameters on different time scales. Understanding the relationship of certain elements in trees and temperature might enable the assignment of extraordinary high peaks in the elemental concentration, which cannot be explained by temperature, to another process as CO2 degassing of the mofettes, which are relics of the volcanic past of the lake. 3. 3. Migrating Identity

    Master-uppsats, Konstfack/Ädellab

    Författare :Egle Sitkauskaite; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Identity; Migration; Place; Home; Memory; Belonging; Personal History; Materiality; Jewellery; Material research; Origin.;

    Sammanfattning : My personal history and the stories of people with similar experiences have inspired my degree project. It revolves around the feeling of belonging when moving from one place to another, adapting to the new environment (e.g. culture, language, etc. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Using blue light reflectance from high-resolution images (6000 dpi) of Scots pine tree rings to reconstruct three centuries of Scottish summer temperatures

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Alice De Schutter; Karin Markendahl; [2021]
    Nyckelord :summer temperature reconstruction; climate change; Scotland; Scots pines; ultra-high image resolution; blue intensity; rekonstruktion av sommartemperatur; klimatförändringar; Skottland; skotska tallar; hög bildupplösning; blå intensitet;

    Sammanfattning : Advances in scanner technology have made it possible to obtain high resolution (6000 dpi) images of tree samples. Due to the images’ increased capability of resolving anatomical wood structures, the new technology could be of benefit to dendroclimatology.  This study attempts to expand on Rydval et al. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Major and trace element geochemical analysis of norites in the Hakefjorden Complex to constrain magma source and magma plumbing systems

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Aodhan Barrett; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Anorthosite; norite; Plagioclase; Hakefjorden Complex; Sweden; Trace Elements; Geochemistry; Magma Origin; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Major and trace element data taken from plagioclase crystals from anorthosites and related rock units in the Hakefjorden Complex located off the west coast of Sweden were investigated for the purposes of constraining magma chamber processes and the source of the magma. Although the anorthosite units were completely homogenous in regards to its chemistry, the plagioclase in the associated norite and ilmenite-leuconorite units showed substantial variation. LÄS MER
