  1. 1. Short-Time Temporal Changes of CH4 Fluxes in Different Tropical Tree Species : In-situ research regarding methane emissions from inundation-adapted Amazonian tree species in Jardim Botnico do Rio de Janeiro.

    Kandidat-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Tema Miljöförändring

    Författare :Emelie Athley; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Methane CH4 ; environment; greenhouse gas GHG ; emission; Amazonian tree species; tropical trees; wetland; flux; CH4 emission from plants; tree mediated CH4 emission; Global CH4 budget; environmental stressors; meteorological parameters; natural CH4 emissions;

    Sammanfattning : Methane (CH4) is guaranteed to affect climate change and is essential in rising temperatures. Scientists have known for over two decades that wetlands emit CH4 to such an extent that it affects our climate. Tropical trees that grow in wetlands tend to emit or act as a conduit of CH4, to the extent that it has a negative environmental impact. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Wetland Precipitationsheds : Assessing the Potential Vulnerability of 40 RAMSAR Wetlands to Upwind Land Cover and Hydroclimatic Change

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :Simon Felix Fahrländer; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Wetlands; precipitationsheds; moisture import; moisture tracking; Lagrangian moisture tracking; land-atmosphere feedback;

    Sammanfattning : Wetland ecosystems play an important role in the global hydrologic cycle, and their hydrologicregime is a major factor for their general functioning (carbon, biodiversity, biogeochemicalcycle etc.). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effects of land use on wetland carbon storage and ecosystem services in the tropics : A first estimation investing rural wetlands in central and eastern Uganda

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Astrid Hedman; [2019]
    Nyckelord :tropical ecosystems; wetlands; carbon stocks; ecosystem services; climate change;

    Sammanfattning : Wetlands provide important ecosystem services (ES) by storing large amounts of organic carbon (OC) and being of high biological, cultural, and economical value. Uganda is covered by vast wetland areas but has with a booming population rapidly been decreasing due to pressure on lands. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Methane fluxes from tree stems in Amazon floodplains : Evaluating methodological aspect of measuring spatial and seasonal variability in a flooded system

    Kandidat-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Tema Miljöförändring

    Författare :felicia Widing; Nina Rubensson; [2018]
    Nyckelord :CH4; Tree stems; Amazon floodplain forest; Wetlands; flux; Solimões; Negro; Tapajós;

    Sammanfattning : Träd i tropiska våtmarker har uppmärksammats som en viktig källa till regionala och globala metan (CH4) utsläpp, då träd fungerar som utsläppskanaler för metan som bildas i sedimenten. Dock finns det en osäkerhet gällande säsongsvariation och rumslig variation samt mängden CH4 utsläpp från träd, eftersom kunskapen kring regionala flöden är begränsad. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Identifying active water flow paths in a tropical wetland with radar remote sensing data (wetland interferometry) : The case of the Cienaga Grande de Santa Marta, Colombia

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :Alice Guittard; [2016]
    Nyckelord :wetland interferometry; InSAR; water flow path; Cienaga Grande de Santa Marta; wetland monitoring; mangrove forest;

    Sammanfattning : Despite being one of the most productive ecosystems on earth, wetland areas have been heavily affected by human activities. The Cienaga Grande de Santa Marta (CGSM) in Colombia is one of these wetlands, where the inadequate construction of roads modified the hydrology and connectivity of this water body, generating massive mangrove mortality episodes.
