  1. 1. Development of a guide system for free neutron oscillation searches at the European Spallation Source

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Lunds Tekniska Högskola; Lunds universitet/European Spallation Source ESS AB

    Författare :Linnéa Björk; [2023]
    Nyckelord :ESS; neutrons; dark matter; antimatter; neutron guides; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this project, a neutron delivery system for the study of free neutron oscillations at the HIBEAM beamline at the European Spallation Source (ESS) has been developed. The HIBEAM experiment is part of a two-stage program at ESS which will address open questions in physics; specifically the nature of dark matter and the observed asymmetry between matter and antimatter in the Universe. 2. 2. Exploring New Physics Through Collider and Gravitational Wave Measurements with Artificial Neural Networks: the Case Study of QCD-like Technicolor

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Ashar Ahmed Kamal; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Artificial Neural Networks; ANN; Beyond the Standard Model; BSM; parameter space scan; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : With physicists actively exploring Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) theories that may fill in the gaps of the Standard Model (SM), a fundamental question arises: which parameters hold physical significance? In this thesis, we present our initial progress towards the development of a model-independent artificial intelligence framework designed for conducting parameter space scans in BSM scenarios. Our framework incorporates several publicly available high-energy physics packages, namely SPheno, HiggsBounds, HiggsSignals, and CosmoTransitions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Potassium in the Galactic Bulge - as traced by microlensed dwarf & sub-giant stars

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Lukas Jönsson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Nucleosynthesis; Galactic Bulge; Potassium; Non-Local-Thermal-Equilibrium; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : During this report the potassium (K) trend in the Galactic Bulge, with respect to metallicity and various α-elements, has been computed and evaluated by a method of line synthesis on the 7698.96 ̊A KI line (7699 KI), where Non-Local-Thermal-Equilibrium (NLTE) effects have been considered. 4. 4. Svenska gymnasieelevers uppfattningar om storlek och avstånd i universum

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för utbildningsvetenskap

    Författare :Karolin Nilsson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Astronomy; Misconceptions; Educational Research; Science Education; High School Students; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : This study aims to investigate how students in Swedish upper secondary school conceptualize sizes and distances of some astronomical objects, such as planets and stars, as well as the students’ general knowledge of the objects themselves. The study uses a constructivist framework and explores how well the students’ conceptions match the scientific facts and definitions, and what misconceptions and alternative conceptions they hold. 5. 5. Phase Transitions in the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model with a Softly-Broken Z2 Symmetry

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Filip Gustavsson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Particle Physics; Beyond Standard Model; Two-Higgs Doublet Model; 2HDM; Electroweak Phase Transitions; Strong First-order Phase Transition; Dimensional Reduction; CP-conserving; Softly broken Z2-symmetry; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) is an extension to the Standard Model which adds a second Higgs doublet. This extension provides freedom within the model, in comparison to the Standard Model, which makes it possible to study strong electroweak phase transitions. LÄS MER
