1. Detecting Lithium Brine in Afghanistan Using Spaceborne Hyperspectral Data
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to utilize hyperspectral remote sensing technology for the identification and evaluation of lithium mineral deposits in Afghanistan. Afghanistan boasts unique geological formations with substantial potential for lithium resources beneath its land crust. LÄS MER
2. Mercury accumulation in lake sediments on different time scales – the influence of algal primary production
Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : The aim of this work is to test the proposed approach of algal scavenging as a driver of sediment mercury (Hg) on different time scales and to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms of Hg accumulation in lake sediments. A 3000-year sediment record from Nylandssjön in northern Sweden was analysed for this purpose, as well as a 20-year sediment record from the seasonal sediment traps of this lake. LÄS MER
3. Development of a Level-0 Geoprocessing Platform for a Multispectral Remote Sensing Payload
Master-uppsats, KTH/Lättkonstruktioner, marina system, flyg- och rymdteknik, rörelsemekanikSammanfattning : This thesis presented an overview of the development of a geolocating algorithm as part of a geoprocessor for raw satellite imagery. This algorithm was devised for and limited by the specifications of a state-of-the-art multispectral telescope designed by Aistech Space, hosted onboard the Guardian spacecraft, which will observe Earth through the visible, near infrared, and thermal infrared bands of the electromagnetic spectrum. 4. Effects of different biochar application rates on soil fertility and soil water retention in on-farm experiments on smallholder farms in Kenya
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Soil and EnvironmentSammanfattning : Biochar is produced through pyrolysis, the thermo-chemical degradation of biomass under anaerobic or oxygen-limited conditions. Due to its properties related to surface area and porosity, bulk density, nutrient content, stability, cation exchange capacity (CEC), pH value, and carbon content, biochar has the potential to improve physical as well as chemical soil properties and thus improve crop productivity and contribute to carbon sequestration. 5. Long term organic carbon dynamics in 17 Swedish lakes : The impact of acid deposition and climate change
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : During the last three decades, a number of studies based on national environmental monitoring data have found increased concentrations of total organic carbon (TOC) in surface waters in much of the northern hemisphere including Sweden. There are many hypothesis of what has been the main cause of this trend, including changes in land use, decreased atmospheric deposition of acidifying compounds and climate change. LÄS MER
