  1. 1. Magma Mixing and ReplenishmentBeneath Laurens Peninsula, Heard Island

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Ransom Telson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Heard Island; Laurens Peninsula; crystal size distribution; magma replenishment; Heard Island; Laurens halvön; kristallstorleksfördelning; magmablandning; påfyllning;

    Sammanfattning : Heard Island is a remote Australian territory which lies in the South-middle sector of the Indian Ocean.The island lies in the central province of the Kerguelen Plateau. On the north-western face of the islandlies the Laurens Peninsula, where modern volcanism has been periodic since approximately 10 ka, butno eruption has been recorded. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Record of the end-Triassic mass extinction in shallow marine carbonates: the Lorüns section (Austria)

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Linus Brakebusch; [2022]
    Nyckelord :sedimentology; geochemistry; ooids; oolites; oncoids; oncolites; Triassic; Jurassic; Rhaetian; Hettangian; ocean acidification; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The end-Triassic mass extinction (ETE) was one of the five big mass extinctions of the Phanerozoic and occurred ~201 Ma ago. Research agrees that the main triggering factor for the ETE was the eruptions of the Central Atlantic Magmatic Volcanic Province (CAMP), linked to the break-up of the supercontinent Pangaea. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mercury in Fossil Leaves as a Proxy for Tracking Large Igneous Province Volcanism

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Johan Näslund; [2021]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : During some mass extinctions, usually minor, world oceans also underwent anoxic to euxinic conditions, events called Oceanic anoxic events (OAEs). Such an event unfolded during the Toarcian (∼183 Ma), called the T-OAE which is suggested to have been caused by Karoo-Ferrar Large Igneous Province (LIP) volcanism. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Assessing the biodiversity crisis within the Triassic-Jurassic boundary interval using redox sensitive trace metals and stable carbon isotope geochemistry

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Halla Margrét Viðarsdóttir; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Stenlille; Schandelah; redox conditions; C-isotopes; marine sediments; trace elements; enrichment factors; mass extinction; Triassic – Jurassic boundary; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Around the Triassic-Jurassic-Boundary time interval, a severe mass extinction event occurred, which has been associated to volcanism of the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province (CAMP). Significant amounts of greenhouse gases as carbon dioxide (CO2) or methane (CH4) and other volatiles are suggested to have been released into the atmosphere, leading to global warming with subsequent impact on the biosphere. 5. 5. Vulkanisk inverkan på klimatet och atmosfärcirkulationen : en litteraturstudie som jämför vulkanism på låg respektive hög latitud

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Fanni Végvári; [2019]
    Nyckelord :vulkanutbrott; aerosoler; låg hög latitud; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Vulkanisk aktivitet har sedan längre observerats ha en stor påverkan på klimatet. Svavelaerosoler från utbrott bildar molntäcken som kan sprida sig runt globen och hindrar en del solstrålar från att nå markytan. Till följd av detta sker en temperaturminskning av marknära luft under det område som molnet täcker. LÄS MER
