1. Numerical Study on Acoustic Phenomena in Cavities for Aero-engine Applications
Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)Sammanfattning : For about seventy years, noise generated by grazing flow past a cavity has been thoroughly studied. Yet, a coherent theory that describes such phenomena is missing. Lately, this phenomena started to be investigated in bleeding systems of aero-engines. LÄS MER
2. Modeling of the trajectory of ice thrown from a wind turbine
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för energivetenskaperSammanfattning : There is a growing number of wind turbines installed in cold temperature zones as a result of the restricted space for new construction. Due to ice deposition on the turbine blades, the increasing installation of wind turbines in freezing temperature areas presents many challenges: ice accumulation increases weight, unbalances the rotor, diminishes aerodynamic efficiency, and creates safety issues. 3. A coupling method using CFD, radiative models and a surface model to simulate the micro-climate
Master-uppsats, KTH/Teknisk mekanikSammanfattning : The increasing demand for energy, depletion of fossil fuels, rising global warming, and greenhouse gas emissions have stimulated the need for widespread development and adoption of renewable energy sources (RES) worldwide. Among these sources, solar energy has emerged as a major contender to meet the growing demand. LÄS MER
4. Uncertainty quantification for offshore wind turbines
Master-uppsats, KTH/Matematik (Avd.)Sammanfattning : Wind energy is a field with a large number of uncertainties. The random nature of the weather conditions, including wind speed, wind direction, and turbulence intensity, influences the energy output and the structural safety of a wind farm, making its performance fluctuate and difficult to predict. 5. Verification and validation of the implementation of an Algebraic Reynolds-Stress Model for stratified boundary layers
Master-uppsats, KTH/Teknisk mekanikSammanfattning : This thesis studies the implementation of an Explicit Algebraic Reynolds-Stress Model(EARSM) for Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) in an open source ComputationalFluid Dynamics (CFD) software, OpenFOAM, following the guidance provided by thewind company ENERCON that aims to make use of this novel model to improvesites’ wind-field predictions. After carefully implementing the model in OpenFOAM,the EARSM implementation is verified and validated by testing it with a stratifiedCouette flow case. LÄS MER
