Sammanfattning: The Attic year started around midsummer, and the year was full of festivals in honor of the gods. The festivals were all performed in different ways and each festival had its particular god or goddess as its main deity. All Athenians thought that when he watched the comedies or tragedies during Lenaia or City Dionysia, the god Dionysus was also there taking pleasure of the plays, and when the Athenians took part in the games of Panathenaia, they thought that the goddess Athena was in fact honored by their achievements. The gods and goddesses of the Attic world were all a very big part of the people’s lives and a big variety of ceremonies and sacrifices were made in the gods honor. The men and the women of Attica did however perform the religious ceremonies in different ways, and there were various reasons to perform each festival.
