Sammanfattning: “I am a social worker, but also a manager, so I'm both” - A interview study about how managers experience the role conflict within the social services. The aim of this study was to describe and analyze how managers experience the role conflict within social services. We have taken a qualitative approach to our study, based on six semistructured interviews with managers from different social offices. The analysis was based on role theory where a character trait and expected behavior is formed within the society. Together with role theory we also used the theory about social identity originated by Henri Tajfel and John Turners. The result of the study shows that managers still see themselves as social workers and put a bigger pried in that term than the title as a manager. They can see that their role as a manager has an effect on their view of social work and that they in their new role can see everything in a bigger picture than they could before. The results of the study also show that managers' feel a role conflict within their profession. The role conflict emerges when managers' own ethics and values for the clients best, fall into conflict with what is considered the best for the organization.
