Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study is to investigate which contributing factors that leads to unused and waste materials at the construction sites. What can be changed to reduce the amount of unused material and to reduce handling. The material that is over today on the projects, how it’s handled and what strategies are there. Is there an opportunity to develop what the handling looks like today on the projects to reduce unused material. The methods used to find solutions to the problem statements are a qualitative interview study and a literature study. It was chosen to do a qualitative interview study instead of a quantitative one. The qualitative interview study is a more open form of interview and no conclusions are drawn from the beginning. It’s the qualitative interview study in combination with the literature study that constitutes the report’s results and forms the basis for the analysis that ultimately provides the basis for the drawn conclusions. The results of the interview studies shows that unused materials occur based of difficulties to quantify material because of the tight time schedule and negligence. It also occurs when handling material at the workplace it could lead to defects which makes that material must be discarded. All interview respondents agreed on the fact that there is more to be done to avoid unused materials. It appears that the company works hard to reduce the unused materials and to build more sustainably. They describe that they always try to find other projects to ship the material to or to sell it back to suppliers to avoid discarding the unused material.
