Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Göteborgs universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: This study examines circular economy and sustainability work in the textile industry. The two main questions for the study are how Swedish fashion brands relates to EU’s action plan for circular economy and what challenges and opportunities there are with implementing circular economy. The theory of the study is based on circular economy and how the world is starting to shift from a linear economy to a circular economy. Previously research has shown that one of the challenges in the textile industry is that there are not distinct rules from a higher authority. which results in companies following different guidelines for circular economy. The study is based on interviews with Swedish employees working with sustainability at a fashion brand with a base in Sweden. The result of the study displays that although the fashion brands are not implementing the action plan in their sustainability work they are relating to it very well based on the interviews and analysis. There are several opportunities working with a circular economy in the future for the fashion brands but there are also some challenges in the shape of economy, rules from EU and approach for the companies to transition to a circular economy.
