Utveckling av gammal bebyggelse : en fallstudie av Mariefred

Sammanfattning: In this thesis, which aims to examine how old buildings can be continuously used and developed in today's society, Mariefred, Strängnäs municipality, Södermanlands province has been chosen as the object of study. Mariefred was chosen due to the large amount of old buildings inside the city centre. The study has also taken a spatial perspective, due to the feeling of “genuinity” inside the city centre and how important the feeling is deemed by the city’s residents. The study itself is based on an interview with individuals who can be deemed experts on the subject Mariefred and possesses relevant knowledge of city development. Using this interview as well as a site study, a SWOT-analysis have been performed and from this analysis as well as re-using the interview, possibilities for further development of the architectural heritage has been constructed. The opportunities found through the study has been to lure more time-based events to the city, develop the already healthy small business market as well as develop the market for cultural tourism in the city.
