Sammanfattning: There is a common belief that the arts contain knowledge of creativity that can enrich the business world. Similarly, the arts are in need of additional support from the private sector and know-how of business practices. In short, there is a need for mutual understanding. With my background as a dancer paired with my studies at the Stockholm School of Economics I have taken the challenge of bringing the two worlds closer together. By changing a social system, like an organization, it is possible to get a better understanding of it. Based on this idea from action research, a different form of organization is introduced into a dance production in this study. The focus of the research is twofold. First to find a new and possibly better way of producing dance and second, to study leadership during the changed dance production process in order to get a deeper understanding of it. The leadership is in many ways found to be based in what can be labelled as the leader as Messiah discourse. The hierarchy is pronounced and several reasons for this are discussed in this paper, among others, hierarchy helps to increase the freedom of artistic expression for the dancers. The participants in the dance production are found to prefer text as opposed to pictures in the dance script they are using as the basis for their work. Through theory of social constructionism this is explained by the everyday life quality of language. With a firm text base in the intersubjective everyday life the artists find it easier to enter the artistic world. In all, the new organizational form introduced was successful in the production of a dance piece with a narrow timeframe. However, the piece got a dreadful review in a leading Swedish newspaper and it remains to see if the new organizational form will change dance production in the future.
