Hur har Covid-19 påverkat konkursrisken inom hotell- och nöjesparksbranschen?

Sammanfattning: Background: The reason to why a company file in for bankruptcy is because they are unable to pay their debt and to prevent this, the company needs to work proactive to create a manageable risk within their capital structure. In spring 2020, during the outbreak of covid-19, the Swedish government established restrictions with the purpose to limit public gatherings. This leads to negative consequences for the hospitality and amusement industry which are the two industries this thesis intends to investigate. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how covid-19 has affected the bankruptcy risk within the hospitality and amusement park industry. This by examining the bankruptcy risk before covid-19 in combination with thoughts from persons with leading positions within the industries about how the bankruptcy risk has been affected by covid-19. Method: The thesis consists of a combination of a qualitative and quantitative research method. The data collection consists of primary data from semi-structured interviews and secondary data from financial statements. The respondents of the theses are all persons with leading positions within the hospitality and amusement park industry. Conclusion: According to the persons with leading positions within the hospitality and amusement park industry, the bankruptcy risk has increased as a consequence of covid-19 because of a reduced profitability, higher leverage and a larger capital requirement.
