Mår du bra på jobbet?
Sammanfattning: The purpose of this thesis is to study how work-related stress and the risk of burnout within the social services is perceived by professional caseworkers, who are a social worker that is employed by a government agency. In the study, we interviewed twelve caseworkers working in different municipalities in Sweden. When asking the questions, we used a qualitative method using semi-structured interviews. Our theoretical starting-point was Lazarus och Folkman’s (1984) coping theories and Karasek and Theorell’s (1990) demand-control-support model. We used these theoretical frameworks when we analysed and interpreted the empirical material. From results and analyses we found how caseworkers use coping to handle their perceived stress level. The result showed that many respondents, in particular young caseworkers, perceive a high work load and use a variety of coping strategies. For example, some used different types of physical activities while others used meditation in their spare time. We have, among other things, found that many of the respondents lack social support from their management, not least young, recently graduated caseworkers, which has led to increased discontent and stress levels.
