Strategier för digital bevaring och långtidslagring : en studie i kontroll av ettor och nollor.

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this master thesis is a study in strategies for digital preservation over time, from the standpoint of different institutions. The institutions we are investigating are Kulturen Museum in Lund, Skånes Regionarkiv and Malmö Stadsarkiv. We have studied the institutions from two perspectives: digital preservation and cultural heritage. The study has been carried out through qualitative interviews with personnel involved in the management of digital preservation at the institutions, and how they have solved problems with digital preservation. For the study we have chosen abduction as an epistemological standpoint in order to, not confirm given theories, but to develop hypothesis derived from the institutions work in managing digital documents. The result has been a series of hypothesis that have some general relevance to different archives and museum institutions, especially small and medium sized institutions where the need for solutions of digital preservation and where resources to solve these problems are not always prioritized.
