Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study is to examine how streaming media has changes our media habits. How the consumption is different between those who has streaming media and those who has the traditional TV. The theories that I use are different theories in media science which will provide me with the knowledge to answer my purpose. Fragmentation and segmentation is a theory about how the audience is not longer watching TV together, instead they are watching by them self. Media convergence is a theory about how different media are emerging to one new media. In the case of this study, it is about how the computer, internet and TV emerging into a new media and how that has change the audience. Digitalism is a theory about how the media as transform from analogue to digital. There is a debate if the new digital technology is providing something new that the old technology couldn’t provide. The generation of media use, is a theory in which there is a discussion about how different generations are willing to take in the new technologies and how they are approaching them. The empirical examination in this study consists of qualitative interviews. I have interviewed teen people that were put in to two different categories. The young category are people between the ages 18-30, they all are using at least one streaming media. The second category is people between the ages 50-70, none of them are using streaming media, but instead they are using the traditional TV medium. This method has helped me to gather a rich research material that can provide several interesting opinions and patterns. I have recorded the interviews to get as accurate material as possible when I transcribed my work. The empirical examination reveals that the fragmentation in visual media is not only large with the group of people who are using streaming media but also with the group of people who are using the traditional TV medium. It also reveals that people who are using streaming media feels less stress then when they were using the traditional TV. However since I didn´t expect to find this I did make a question about it for my interviews so I couldn’t find anything about stress from the older category. The younger category couldn´t see them self go back to the traditional TV medium were the corporations decided time and date for the TV-shows and movies. The freedom that streaming has given them means too much for them to give up. It was clear that the younger generations were more open minded and interested in the media convergence and digitalism than the older category, much of this is a generation question.
