Sammanfattning: The aim of this report is to design a transport aircraft capable of carrying supplies for 5 000 people, to last for a week, from anywhere in Europe to the equator. The design process is to be based on existing procedures that are being used by the aviation industries. An initial idea was conceived for a jet-powered subsonic carrier capable of carrying 70 ton of supplies 8 600 nautical miles. Calculations were made to determine factors such as weight, wing area, number of engines and various important coefficients. During the calculation phase a decision was made to change the initial concept entirely, to instead replace the single aircraft with two supersonic jets capable of carrying half the payload of the subsonic jet. Once the new concept had been defined calculations were done once again. The results of the design process have produced a supersonic jet capable of carrying 35 metric ton of payload at Mach 2 for 8 600 nautical miles. Such an aircraft can provide relief to disaster zones in less than 3 hours, a vast improvement compared to the eight hours it would take for the initial concept airplane to carry the needed supplies the same distance.
