Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: This thesis is about the patient and the professionals' experiences of participation and recovery in forensic psychiatric care. The purpose of the study was to investigate patients' and professionals' experiences of participation and what is considered to contribute to recovery from severe psychiatric illness. The study is based on a qualitative method and the empirical material consists of digital documents from a Swedish organization called National Partnership for Mental Health (NSPH). The results show that there are both hindering and promoting factors to the patient's ability to participate actively in their care. The results showed, among other things, that there are gaps in knowledge about how the information should be shared with the patient when the patient is not receptive or cannot read, hear and listen. Regarding the patient's recovery, it benefited from, among other things, receiving support in the individual and by being involved in their care process.
