Sammanfattning: Beroendesjukdomar och dess självhjälpsgrupper 12-stegs behandling och dess självhjälpsgrupper En kvalitativ studie om människor som genomgått 12-stegs behandling enligt Minnesotamodellen Addiction and its self help groups 12-step treatment and its self help groups A qualitative study of people who have gone through 12-step treatment according to the Minnesota modell Abstract Our aim with this study has been to increase our knowledge of addiction care in general and the 12-step method in particular through qualitative interviews. We have investigated what social shortcomings informants believe there are in society that contribute to people becoming addicted. We have also sought answers to what it is in the 12-step treatment according to the Minnesota model that helps them maintain their sobriety. We conducted the survey based on Tomas Scheff's theories of shame, pride, social ties and Randall Collins theories of interaction rituals and emotional energy. Similarly, we have investigated the social deficits that lead to addiction based on Saskia Sassen's theories of expulsion. The study is qualitative and we have interviewed 8 people who have undergone 12-step treatment and who have maintained their sobriety. The method approach is hermeneutic. The result shows that the informants see a reduced social safety net combined with the exclusion of groups from society as a contributing cause of abuse. The study also shows that the attention and processing of hidden shame in combination with successful interaction rituals that generate positive emotional energy contribute to retained sobriety. Our study also shows, which even previous research supports, that there is no support for the 12-step method itself being better than any other method.
