Sammanfattning: The purpose of the study was investigate, with a qualitative method, the municipal preschool managers' experience of having to adapt leadership to achieve the ideal image of a trust-based leadership in a municipality's forthcoming implementation of a new governance and leadership approach. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with five preschool managers and two assistant preschool managers in a municipality in central Sweden. The material was analyzed with an inductive thematic analysis. Themes that were analyzed were the hierarchical structure, the collegial leadership with the subtopic culture and the theme trust, listen and create participation. Overall, the study's results showed that respondents experienced a culture that promoted trust and that they already worked on the basis of a trust-based leadership. There was thus no perceived need to adapt the leadership, but there were elements of perceived challenges such as time and work with people. There was an idea that leaders with a great need for control can have difficulties in leading trust-based.
