Spruckna skallar: Analys av kranialt trauma hos två medeltida populationer från Skåne

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Historisk osteologi

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this B.A. thesis was to analyse and compare skeletal material from two medieval grave sites in Skåne, Sweden, in terms of cranial trauma. 100 adult skulls, 75 from Löddeköpinge and 25 from S:t Jörgen in Åhus, were analysed macro visually resulting in a total of eight finds of trauma. The thesis partly discusses how cranial trauma can be used as a base for assessing violence in ancient society. Due to S:t Jörgen's role as a leprosarium, the possible difference between trauma in a heterogenic agrarian population, and one comprised of outcasts with a likely feared disease, was also examined. However, due to the relatively small sample and few cases of trauma as well as signs of leprosy no proper conclusion could be reached in that matter.
