Utlandsstationering : En studie om Svenska multinationella företags repatrieringsprocess och kunskapsöverföring till hemorganisationen
Sammanfattning: Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine how Swedish multinational companies handle the repatriation process, knowledge transfer and career management upon repatriation. Moreover, the purpose is to examine how repatriates experiencing repatriation. The study intends to study these issues from both organizational perspective and the employee perspective. Method: The study was conducted by applying a qualitative survey method with a deductive approach. The procedure for the conduct of the study have been with interviews through a multiple case study with a convenience sampling. Conclusion: The study's conclusion highlights the factors that hamper the repatriation process, knowledge transfer and career development. The companies do not have a repatriation program similar to expatriation program. This leads to concerns and uncertainty among repatriates upon repatriation. It is possible to see a clear link between career management, repatriation process and knowledge transfer. The majority of repatriates demand some type of career planning with a mentor. This would facilitate the repatriation process and probably increase the desire to share knowledge among repatriates. Companies lacks tools and channels where knowledge transfer can take place. The majority of repatriates feel that their knowledge has not come in handy in their home organization.
