Politiska partiers roll i utvecklingen av styrning i det svenska samhället : En kvalitativ analys av hur Socialdemokraterna och Moderaterna har påverkat framväxten av New Public Management i Sverige

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study was to examine two of the biggest political parties’ views on governing, from the year 1980 to now, and how it has changed over time to discover how the parties have affected the development of New Public Management (NPM) in Sweden. The study also aimed to examine similarities and differences between the parties regarding their respective view on governing. This was accomplished with a qualitative method using theories and former studies regarding NPM and political parties as the theoretical framework. The results revealed several indicators that the parties have been involved in the development of NPM, partially through mostly positive attitudes towards aspects characteristic to NPM. The conclusions also took changes in the parties’ political viewpoints as well as the similarities and differences between the parties in consideration which did not impact the results that showed that both parties have contributed to the development of NPM in Sweden.
