Sammanfattning: The aim of the study was to find out how secondary teachers work motivation correlated with work satisfaction and general social support. The theoretical background was self determination theory. The results of the study was that high work satisfaction correlate with intrinsic motivation and that the lower work satisfaction you have the more amotivated are you. Further emerged that the experience of general social support did not correlate with the experience of work motivation. The used method was an electronic survey that was sent to eleven principles at nine secondary schools where the principles later sent the survey to their teachers. It was a drop-out of participants which means that the results should be interprated with caution. Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analysis was used where they showed that the participants had an intrinsic motivation with an average or low work satisfaction, the social support correlated with intrinsic motivation. The conculsion was that the best predictor for work satisfaction was intrinsic motivation.
