Att klimatdeklarera byggnader : En studie om utmaningar och möjligheter med Boverkets förslag på klimatdeklarationer

Sammanfattning: The increased greenhouse effect is today a global environmental problem that affects all living things on our planet. One fifth of the domestic emissions of greenhouse gases in Sweden originate from the construction and real estate sector. The Swedish Government has taken action to reduce the climate impact and is therefore suggesting a climate declaration requirement. This means that all buildings whose planning permission is handed in after the 1st of January 2022 is obliged to follow this requirement. To climate declare implies to show the total amount of greenhouse gases related to the materials used. The purpose of this study is to increase knowledge about the challenges and possibilities the proposition of climate declaration might bring. Four structural engineers were interviewed with aim to investigate their point of view on this issue and how their way of working might be affected in the future. To identify challenges that might occur with reference to the proposition of climate declaration, two calculations of climate impact were done. Results from the interviews indicate that the structural engineers enter the process of a project too late to contribute in an optimal way to a reduced climate impact. The calculation of climate impact shows e.g. that glass wool contributes to a higher climate impact than insulation of cellulose regardless of which environmental data was used. Calculation of climate impact shows that the majority of the materials contributes to a higher climate impact if generic data was used instead of product specific data. When the climate declaration requirement is introduced it will be important to allocate resources to investigate alternative material and methods, in order to reduces the climate impact. The idea of who traditionally access the different stages of the process of building may need to be questioned.
