Sammanfattning: Sweden have 419 000 km road in the country and about half of these roads is forestroads. The forest road net most important mission is to make it possible to deliver wood from the forest to the industries. With a raw material that is spread over a large area the road network is important. Each year has the forest road network been extended with about 1 700 km new roads. To decide if a new road is to be built different forest road cost estimation models has been used. The purpose with this thesis was to make a modern and up to date forest road cost estimation model. By looking into which benefits and costs a road contributes with new and old parameters has been investigated and evaluated to see if they should be a part of the forest road cost estimation. First is a total model was constructed and then it was simplified to an easier model. This thesis was commissioned by Bergvik Skog. The results on both new and old models from test runs are shown to make comparisons. All models have been constructed in Excel. The parameters from the older models have showed their effect in simple models. A new model was constructed with all parameters that could be included within a model in a good way. After that several different cases were made to test the new model. These results were compared with results from the same case but with a simpler model. With a closer look of these results there was possible to see that some parameters was not as important as others. These parameters could then be removed and a new simplified model was the result. As conclusion it can be said that the parameters that are the most important ones in the tests within this thesis is timber transport, forest fuel transport, machine movement, increase in production at the edge of the road, lost of production in the road, winding factor and flexibility.
