Sammanfattning: Drainage units are measures that permanently modify the water conditions of the land. This is done through drainage or dikes to make the soil more suitable for use by removing unwanted water. Drainage units shall fulfill the purpose of permanently increasing the suitability of a property for a specific purpose. A joint drainage unit is a drainage unit commonly used by several properties. For execution and operation the participants form a joint property unit. A joint drainage unit may be subject to changed circumstances, for example by development or property matters. In that case it can occur a need for re-examination of the joint drainage unit. Additional needs for re-examination can arise when there is a change in the circle of participants or when the economy is affected. The purpose of the master thesis is to investigate re-examinations of joint drainage units in Skåne, Sweden. This is to determine when the question of re-examination is relevant and in that way make it easier for the professionals to handle the question. The investigation indicated that the most common reasons for re-examination are development, infrastructure and nature value enhancement measures. Municipalities stand for over one third of the re-examination applications. Regarding improvements of the process there are different opinions; the majority believe that something needs to change but exactly what is vague. The conclusion of the thesis is that the knowledge regarding joint drainage units is low, but in the built environment sector it is rising. An increased understanding as well as an improved legislation is required to re-examine joint drainage units when affected instead of being overlooked.
