Sammanfattning: Honor-related violence and oppression (HRVF) has long been an important topic and discussed from many different perspectives. Violence motivated by honor is a serious social problem that affects human rights in that the violence on a large scale involves restrictions of various kinds. Especially in cases where children are involved. The purpose of this essay is to investigate how school counselors describe their work with students who are exposed to HRVF. Thus, the aim is also to investigate the knowledge and experience of the school counselors to give an insight into how HRVF against children is handled in schools. The school counselors, using their skills and opportunities, must be able to provide support to students when they notice or suspect that a child is being subjected to honor-related violence and oppression. This study examines how children can be affected by HRVF and what opportunities the school counselors have to influence when a student is in vulnerable situations within the honor context, as well as what responsibility the school counselors have to intervene. The investigation is based on a qualitative approach and semi-structured interviews with four school counselors from different elementary schools in Stockholm (covering grade levels 4-9). In terms of honor-related violence, the study has identified that HRVF is a complex subject and that the school counselors receive various forms of support from the social services and in some cases the organization Origo when there is an indication that a student is exposed to HRVF. Based on the results of the study, it can also be stated that there are divided opinions among the school counselors regarding which resources and working methods are available to be able to offer support for vulnerable students. Among other things, it is considered that there is a lack of knowledge, a lack of routines and guidelines as well as a lack of resources. The school counselors in the study believed that it requires training, development of routines and methods to carry out the work adequately within the context of HRVF.
