Sammanfattning: "Outstanding" or "They ought to know more about computers" : A study on computer support at university libraries. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the support computer users are given at university libraries. Further, the aim is to find out if the users thought they received the support that they needed. The study is carried out at two different university libraries. The data is obtained through interviews with the librarians, observations of the daily work at the information counters and questionnaires handled out to the users. The study indicates that variables such as knowledge, time and equipment play a central role in making the computer support successive. To a great extent the computer support is synonymous with information search, but it also deals with word processing and technical support connected with computer errors. On the whole the users are satisfied with the support they receive, but they inquire better computer knowledge among the librarians. The librarians think that their support is satisfactory and they believe that information search is their greatest competence. One of the conclusions of this study is that users need more information about what the librarians really know and how competent they really are. The other one is that there is a request from the users that librarians should be more skilled in technical computer support. In addition the education carried out by the libraries is important and it is also of great significance that the librarians have enough time for the support needed. Collaboration between libraries and universities is necessary in order to create arranged education and better resources.
