Sammanfattning: The artist Malte Nyberg (1929-2013), born in Näske south of Örnsköldsvik, lived and worked as an artist in South Africa in 1955. He had also his first exhibition in Pretoria during this period. This was un unusual journey for an artist from the north of Sweden. He also lived and worked as a painter in Sudan in 1957-58. This essay focus on Malte Nybergs motifs from Africa and the change of expression from 1955 to 2003. It also discuss the Apartheidsystem in South Africa and has a postcolonial perspective on Malte Nybergs africamotifs. Nybergs art is also linked to expressionism. The essay also have an biographical methodology to analyse and describe the parallels between Malte Nybergs art and life.
