Social hållbarhet, vad innebär det egentligen? : En kvalitativ studie om social hållbarhet inom en offentlig organisation.
Sammanfattning: Research questions: Overall research question; How is the undertaking of social sustainability organized, led and executed within the management of Västerås Municipality Government Administration. To answer the overall research question, a focus is on two sub-questions; How is social sustainability discussed at the leadership level in the city of Västerås? How is social sustainability integrated into the two committees? Purpose: The purpose of this study is to contribute to the body of knowledge of how working with social sustainable development is integrated within public administration organizations. Method: The starting point of the study is qualitative method, with thematic content analysis as a basis for a narrative presentation. Conclusion: Our conclusion is that social sustainability is a broad concept. There is a wide variation in knowledge among leaders and the ambition to work with these issues. The topic in itself is current and permeates large parts of the Västerås Municipality Government Administration both in terms of the work within the organization and towards civil society. Social sustainability recurs in different forums and on different levels. Social sustainability is observed on several areas, however, deficiencies can be discerned within certain domains. This means that the implementation of social sustainability needs to be given more space to maintain and strengthen the legitimacy of the organization.
