Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study has been to shed light on how guides in the labor market administration describe their meeting with clients who receive financial aid. Meetings and also the relationship between social workers and clients is something that in previous studies has been described as important for the work, but also as something complex. In this study, we have examined how the guides reason about behaviour, appearances and expectations in the meeting with their clients, and what significance they believe the surrounding environment has. The study is based on interview material from six interviews with guides active in the labor market administration in the southern part of Sweden. After conducting the interviews, they were processed and thematized and then analyzed on the basis of selected theories. The results show that the guides value clarity and respect, and that there are expectations both for the role as a professional and for the client role. Finding a balance between advocacy and alienation has also been something of importance for the guides in the interview study. The professional role in connection with the surrounding environment has also proven to be important for both the experience of the meeting and relationship building.
