Kär Lek - Sånglekar i förändring
Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study is to investigate what Swedish singing games are and examine the change in their educational role throughout history. The question put forward in this work is – what are the functions of singing games today and how have they changed over time? The study aims to highlight the pedagogical implications of how singing games have been used, and how they are being used up to this date. Hence, the empirical part of the study brings up the issue how experienced pedagogues of singing games today look at the games from a music educational perspective. Four singing games teachers give their perspective on the games and talk about ideas and thoughts they have, and strategies they use. To answer the question of the essay these pedagogues' modern voices are reflected against the historical background in Sweden. The research method is qualitative and the empirical data consists of four interviews with these singing games teachers. The theoretical part analyzed in relation to this investigation consists of the history of ideas based on literature descriptions. The results of the study demonstrate that the functions of singing games both are altered and maintained. It shows that there are different ways to relate to the historical song material today and its historical functions. A new function is a reflective approach where the singing games form a base for discussions, a means to talk about the past, present, and values. The result points to several changes on how teachers today looks at the pedagogical potentials, related to children and the gender aspect; how gender issues are dealt with in this context.
