”Region Skåne är sjukvårdspersonalens värld” - en kvantitativ studie om kuratorns roll inom Malmö psykiatri

Sammanfattning: The aim of the study was to examine the role of the social worker employed within Malmö psychiatry regarding the social worker’s status and impact on patient care. The social worker’s role within hospital environment is a topic that has been examined many times before. In 2014, Socialstyrelsen released a report about introducing a license for social workers employed within hospital environments. This is a subject that hospital social workers have been fighting for over the years with the aim to increase the social worker’s status and influence within hospital environments. With the use of a survey, I have obtained opinions from social workers and medical professions about the social worker’s role within Malmö psychiatry. I have done a comparison of the different opinions from the different professions, but also from different areas of work within Malmö psychiatry regarding the role of the social worker. The study indicates that the specific role of the social worker within Malmö psychiatry is somewhat unclear, as well as what its main tasks should be. I have also been discussing the possible need to consolidate the social worker’s position within Malmö Psychiatry.
