Sammanfattning: This essay explores how comments on travel videos on YouTube are designed and what they refer to in relation to the videos. In the essay, I delve into a number of research areas, ranging from basic tendencies which explain the need of travel to more specific fields like comments on YouTube. In order to find out how the comments are designed and what they refer to in relation to the travel videos, in other words what the viewers’ comments are actually about, I conduct a discursive network analysis. The results of the analysis are in turn presented through figures of my own design. All the comments could through my method be divided into ten more or less distinct categorical blocks, which together form the discursive model of conversation in the comment section of travel videos on YouTube.If producers are aware of how a discourse finds expression and can distinguish elements of distraction from elements of opportunities, it is possible for them to extract relevant information from the comment section on YouTube which they can use to their advantage when developing their productions.
