Sammanfattning: Delivery reliability is a delivery service element that has gained increased importance among companies in recent years. It is becoming more and more important to continually improve internal processes in order to achieve high delivery reliability where the right products are delivered to the end customer in the right quantity and quality. Another key factor to succeed in today´s increasingly globalized and competitive market, is to embrace a holistic view where full supply chains are streamlined. The purpose of this study is to investigate how delivery reliability at ABB Machines in Västerås can be improved and streamlined. ABB Machines develops, manufactures and sells AC machines; a complex process performed in project form. In addition to an AC machine, the projects consist of complementary machines, components and small items to be sent together with the AC machine to the end customer. The internal relocation and handling of these machines, components and items are what is called the delivery process and starts when the AC machine is complete. There are improvement opportunities in this process that the study draws attention to. Developing and streamlining an internal process to achieve increased delivery reliability has a strong link to the logistical construction of the flow in the process, especially in terms of how the material and information is handled. Because of this, the delivery process of the case company has been studied on the basis of material and information handling. The goal has been to identify different problem areas in the process and possible development opportunities. The study has been performed by collecting and analyzing of secondary data as well as observations and interviews. The data collection has contributed to the identification of problem areas, with certain problems having a direct impact on the delivery reliability and some more indirect coupling which results in the process taking longer time than necessary. Overall, there is a lack of how the information is handled in the flow as it is communicated differently in various situations such as often being late or inadequate. Along with this, there is a lack of an overall perspective in the identified process where focus is not in facilitating future activities in the process. By introducing actions related to these problem areas, the process can be streamlined and simplified to make it easier to secure the delivery content to the end customer. The recommendations thus focus, among other things, on adapting work in the different moments to the next moment. For example, the picking should be structured according to the requirements of the completion and packing department. In addition, there should be a great deal of work on improving information handling in the process. Relevant information must be made available to the right person in due time and it needs to be made available with more efficient methods than today. ABB Machines is therefore recommended to introduce shorter meetings prior to the launch process at each project to clarify information and to assign a responsible packer and supporter to each project. Additionally, using tools like information boards, a common mailbox and digital displays as information dissemination tools would be preferred.
