Västkustens knubbsäl i samverkan eller konflikt med fiskare

Sammanfattning: This is a bachelor thesis about fisheries and harbor seals on the west coast of Sweden. This study scrutinizes the relationship between them both and appropriate solutions to get a good interaction between fishermen and harbor seal. A qualitative method was best suited for the study as it aims to investigate the perceived reality of fishermen that exists in our surroundings. The study is based on scientific articles, other literature and interviews with fishermen. The responses from the interviews are compared with scientific articles in order to see the difference between them. The main findings of the study is that there is a conflict between fishermen and harbor seal and that it is due to the harbor seal that destroys fishing gear and takes much of the catch which leads to large economic losses. Another important result is that the harbor seal is affected by the fishermen as it can get caught in fishing gear which leads to drowning. Background history, detailed procedures and methods, choice of theory and an analysis will be addressed in the study.
